Ramblings from a Vet

Alrighty so I’ve been stink at trying to keep up with things on the old blog but i finally have pictures uploaded and all sorts so hopefully I will improve.  I still haven’t even posted all the photos from Contiki yet!

However, those who know me know that I LOVE film.  Movies are like my very favourite hobby.  I read the magazines, have my daily dose of Perez Hilton, and USED to be (before I moved to a country that is terribly behind in release dates) a great resource if you wanted a recommendation as to what to see this weekend.  So, as such I was terribly saddened as missing the Toronto International Film Festival - my favourite time of year in my home town.  I have tried desperately to try and replace it with the London Film Festival which is currently on.  So far I’ve only been to one screening and I must say that TIFF is far better, however I will say that there is something quite fun about being in Leicester square for a premiere.

Last Wednesday I went to the square to check out the premiere for Never Let me Go, a movie based on a book by the same name about a boarding school with secrets.  It stars Carey Mulligan, a favourite of mine from last year’s An Education.  If you haven’t seen this movie, you should.  It is absolutely fabulous and Carey deserved every vote of her Oscar nomination.  She will win one eventually!  It also stars Keira Knightly and Andrew Garfield (of late he has starred in The Social Network but you’ll see him also as the new Spiderman in the recently announced reboot).  All the stars were there - though Keira Knightly did the press line and then made a dash into the theatre so no good pictures of her (only of her back).  Even Ben Kingsley, Gillian Anderson and Jim Broadbent showed up, despite not being in the film.  Admittedly Gillian Anderson was right in front of me and I didn’t even recognize her.  Scully is tres short by the way :)  Jim Broadbent really didn’t spend much time outside either but Ben Kingsley did!  Very nice.  Andrew Garfield was very lovely, spending the most time with the fans, equalled probably by Carey Mulligan who seemed genuine in thanking me for the compliment when I told her An Education was one of my favourite movies last year (though she is an actress after all).  So I put some photos up of the stars as well as me at my first screening on Saturday.  Went to see a movie called Conviction, staring Hilary Swank.  Not my first choice but ended up being not bad!  This Thursday my husband who doesn’t know it yet, Colin Firth, has a premiere so hopefully I will have a chance to get to that one!
